Wellness Alberta Privacy Policy – Updated January 2016

Make Alberta Better is a campaign of Wellness Alberta. Wellness Alberta brings together thousands of individuals including business, health, recreation and sport leaders and non-governmental organizations who support a meaningful investment in the prevention of disease and injuries.

Wellness Alberta respects the privacy of our online stakeholders. We recognize the importance of privacy and are committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality and security of your personal information. We do not sell or trade any personal information.

This privacy policy describes the types of personal information that Wellness Alberta collects and how we manage personal information.

Definition of personal information

Personal information is any information that can identify an individual, such as name, address, age, or email address. Information that is publicly available, such as a telephone book listing, is not considered to be personal information.

How Wellness Alberta uses your personal information

Wellness Alberta collects your personal information directly from you and only with your consent. Wellness Alberta uses your personal information to keep you informed about our activities. Wellness Alberta does not sell or trade any personal information we collect or receive.

Personal information Wellness Alberta collects

The information Wellness Alberta collects is the minimum information required to establish and maintain a relationship with you and to properly track the success of our campaigns. This includes:

  • contact and identification information (name, e-mail, postal code, city);
  • Copies of messages sent to politicians through the Wellness Alberta website

Accuracy and how long we keep personal information

Wellness Alberta aims to ensure that any personal information provided is accurate, complete and current as required for the purposes for which the information is used.

When your personal information is no longer required for Wellness Alberta purposes, the information is either physically destroyed or deleted.

Two types of information are collected from our website:

  1. Personal or “individually identifiable” information you provide to us.
  2. Aggregate information regarding overall website traffic patterns. Normally, web servers collect this type of standard web server/visitor traffic information as part of their web log processes. We do not report on individual user sessions.

There are instances online, however, when Wellness Alberta requests individually identifiable information from you. Please note that we do give our web visitors options wherever necessary and practical. Such choices include:

  • opting not to provide certain personal information when participating in a campaign; and/or,
  • opting not to receive further communications from Wellness Alberta.

Future contact with Wellness Alberta

Wellness Alberta may contact online campaign participants with further communications. If you do not wish to be contacted, we will honour this request. Simply contact the privacy officer.

Occasionally, Wellness Alberta may contact individuals who have provided their individually identifiable information through the website, and have agreed to be contacted, specifically in order to conduct surveys seeking feedback. These surveys are used to improve our level of service to you. While aggregate information about survey results may be publicized, individual data from these surveys will not be shared with other organizations.

Wellness Alberta has links to other websites that are not under its control. Wellness Alberta is not responsible for the contents of any linked website, any link contained in a linked website or any changes or updates to such websites. The inclusion of any link does not mean that Wellness Alberta endorses that website.
